Ms Mandisa Sobantu is a professional Social Worker with strong counselling, organizing, presentation and skills development skills.
Mandisa passed Matric at Siyabonga Senior Secondary School in 1994 with distinction and completed her Bachelor of Social Science in Social Work degree at Rhodes University in 1998. Mandisa is currently registered for the 2017 academic year at NMMU for her Masters in Clinical Social Work.
Mandisa is currently engaged as an Oncology Social Worker at Cancercare: Langehoven Drive Oncology Centre responsible for assessment and orientation of new patients to their cancer trajectory.
She handles distressed patients and assists in normalizing their crisis, journey with and through cancer, discharge planning, end of life and bereavement issues. This is a responsibility she held from March 2012 to date. Prior to her current occupation she was employed by the Department of Labour as an Assistant Director of Public Employment Services at the Port Elizabeth Labour Centre. She headed the unit and was responsible for supervision of the provision of Public Employment Services to Unemployed persons, employers, NGOs, SETAs, Local Government, Private Employment Agencies and other government departments. She also acted as a Regional Manager at the Department of Labour, George Labour Centre in 2008.
Mandisa brings into Aphile 18 years of unbroken work experience, a wealth of experience as a seasoned Counsellor and a skills development specialist with expanse experience in communication, leadership, conflict management and problem solving.
She is a proud donor to the Rhodes University Annual Fund and a member of the Tumelo Zaka Dream Team amongst other charitable entities.
Throughout her career Mandisa has attended a number of workshops and training courses including obtaining a Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring from Maccauvlei Training and Conference Centre. She is passionate about giving and doing charity work and she is part of initiatives which seeks to empower young and old people alike.
